One day trip St. St. Constantine and Helena - Aladzha Monastery

Aladzha Monastery-is a Bulgarian medieval rocky monastery, lying 8 km north from St. St. Constantine and Helena in a beautiful place, deep into the rocks. The monastery is reached through picturesque meandering way surrounded by greenness. Aladzha Monastery was founded in the XII-XIII century, and was abundant around XVIII century. It is believed that its name came from the Turkish word meaning” varicolored”, because of the frescos still discernible on the walls. This unique monument is hewed out in 40m high vertical rocks. It is the most celebrated monastery on the Bulgarian seaside. Its foundation is connected with the diffusion of the Christianity, when hermits and monk fraternities founded such kind of rocky monasteries. It is divided into two opposite parts, featuring places for monastery temple, monk rooms, a kitchen, a tomb, a chapel and a dining room. The years of the Ottoman domination were a period of decline. Its location, in a beautiful forest, makes the place even more attractive. There are a lot of legends for unknown tunnels and labyrinths into the rocks, where great treasures were hidden. Nowadays, the monastery is a monument of culture and a famous tourist center. In the monastery’s yard is situated a small museum, in which are kept ruins and remains of the ancient monastery as well as great collection of archeological finds and samples of the Medieval Bulgarian Art. The monastery is part of the National Park Golden Sands, named after the nearby resort Golden Sands. The park is famous with its beauty, biodiversity and flora including more than 500 types of plants. On its territory there are built numerous tourist resting places with remarkable view, constructed are special handicapped friendly tourist tours, velo and eco tourism.

One day trip St. St. Constantine and Helena - Balchik- Botanic Garden

Botanic Garden is situated on 28 km. north from St. St. Constantine and Helena, nearby other popular sea resort Albena. To reach the exotic garden, you will be driven along the Black Sea Coast side, which reflects the beauty not only of the coast but the whole country. The town and the belonging garden are part of the 100 national tourist’s destinations. Wedged up by the natural beauty of the area around Balchik, Romanian Queen Maria decided to build up her summer palace and botanical garden right there. This happened 8 years after the end of World War I in 1918, when Balchik was annexed to the territory of Romania. Besides the high-towered palace and the surrounding garden, the complex also includes a chapel, which still keeps the heart of the queen after her will, a villa, originally meant to host Romanian aristocrats, and a beautiful stone throne under an old tree where Queen Maria loved to watch the sunset. More than 3,000 rare and exotic plants, including more than 200 tree species, fabulous flowers and a unique collection of about 250 cactus species (later representing the Europe's second most important collection) grow during that time in the botanic garden.

One day trip St. St. Constantine and Helena- Cape Kaliakra

Cape Kaliakra is an inseparable part of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast’s exoticism. The way to the cape is exposing the natural diversity of the country and the bright beauty of the coast. Only 65 km. far away from St. St. Constantine and Helena, the cape is part of our national wonders. Its attractiveness is a breath taking natural phenomena. Cape Kaliakra is a long and narrow headland of the northern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, located on 40 km north-east of Varna. The coast is steep and has cliffs reaching 70 m down to the sea. In this area occurred last remains of steppe habitats in Bulgaria. Kaliakra is a nature reserve, where dolphins, sharks and numbers of typical steppe birds can be observed. It is one of the very good bird watching sites in Bulgaria. The legend tells that 40 young women tighten their braids together and throw themselves from the cape to escape from the Ottoman enslaver. Since that at the begging of the cape an obelisk has been built, called the “Gate of Forty”. Other legend is about St. Nikola, patron of the sail men. It is known that the Saints had been running from the Ottomans enslavers, when God helped him by lengthened the land, which today is the cape, called Kaliakra. Nevertheless, the Saint had been captured and on that place nowadays is built a chapel as a symbol of his grave. There was a girl monastery during the time of the Ottoman Empire and a small cape named St. Nikola on a side.

Sight sides on south

On the south of the sea resort St. St. Constantine and Helena are situated most of the biggest sea resorts Bqla, Obzor and Sunny Beach. The way reaching those resorts is a benchmark of picturesque and natural diversity of the country. On some places the coast is hidden behind high broad-shouldered trees, getting into the deep country side, claming hills and sliding down slopes, passing meadows and valleys.

Trip St. St. Constantine and Helena -Nessebar

Nessebar, an ancient town is situated on one hour and a half south from St. St. Constantine nad Helena, along colourful and interesting route. Located on a rocky peninsula jutting out into the Black Sea, Nessebar is one of the oldest towns. Nessebar Old City is situated on a small island linked with New Nessebar by a mainland via a narrow strip of land. Nessebar is one of Europe’s oldest towns, found at 440 B.C, inheritor of the ancient Thracian settlement, caring the romantic spirit of Messemvria, (ancient name of the city). In 1956 UNESCO placed Nessebar on its World Cultural Heritage list as town with most arhitectual sights from the Middle Ages. Since then the city is a cultural and national monument. In the Old City, there are ruins of 42 churches, basilics from the early period of Christianity to the Bizantian domed church-examples of archtectual and artistically influence of the ancient Greeks and Romes Empire. Some of the those churches are a profesional art gallaries and museums.

Trip St. St. Constantine and Helena – Sozopol

Situated on 150 km., far away from Sea Resort St. St. Constantine and Helena, this is one of the most amusing places along the South Black Sea Coast. The road down to Sozopol is passing by the biggest town on South Coast -Bourgas and after not long you are getting to the Sozopol. Sozopol is the oldest town, found 610 B.C., on the South Black Sea Coast. It is a charming piece of antiquity. Contemporary Sozopol is a tourist center. Side by side its architecture, there are ancient churches, architectual monuments in the town. The small harbor offers a fascinating view, especially at sunrise when fishermen pull out their nets. Sozopol attracts visitors with its narrow cobbled streets, old stone houses rising on both sides, some of which have been turned into cozy restaurants; picturesque fishermen boats and nets spread on the sand; numerous small shops and pavilions, offering works of art, paintings and wonderful sea souvenirs. For some, however, the best souvenir is the homemade jam made from whole green figs, sold by old women sitting on wooden benches in front of the high walls of their houses. Foreigners will definitely be impressed by their divine taste. They'll even take home the precious small jars of jam.
